Trusted Research Environment (aka TRE)
TRE provides a secure space for researchers (academicians, students, data scientists) to do their data processing activities with collected data. Technically, it is a virtual desktop running operating system with pre-installed tools that simplify data processing. In addition, data available in TRE are usually anonymized, so there is little or no risk of leaking patients' records. The level of data anonymization in TRE differs for various user groups.
All activities performed on TRE's virtual desktop are recorded (for security reasons). Also, the virtual machines are not connected to the internet, so there is no risk of leakage (there are some exceptions, like servers with packages for data processing).
Our TRE environment can run on a Windows machine or Enterprise Ubuntu based one. Data are by default processed through SQL management IDE (which depends on whether data are stored using Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL) and other tools based on Python and R (typically Jupyter Notebook).
Customers mostly appreciate our flexibility and the possibility of running our solutions on their infrastructure.
Our TRE solution uses data collected in the Study/Trial organizer (and e-Survey tool). We can modify our solution to use your data sources (and linkages).
